ST. LOUIS – A local man has launched a new social media app which he hopes will help communities solve some problems with crime and police brutality. Edward Thornton launched the app Loop about two weeks ago. “What I did is I created a community-based app where people can post the events that are going on in their neighborhoods and communities, and, in turn, see second-by-second what is actually happening in their environment,” Thornton said.

Edward Thornton was naturally drawn to technology as a child and would often disassemble all of the electronics in his household to feed his curiosity. Over time, that curiosity pushed him into an established career where he strengthened his skills while obtaining his degree in Information Systems and Computer Technology at the University of Missouri St. Louis and traveling around the world as a software developer.

'Bring Dat Mono Back' documentary is set to screen at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase. Edward Thornton, Tech entrepreneur, released “Bring Dat Mono Back,” in 2023. He saw people across the world doing the dance and calling it, The Monastery. “Nobody really knows the origins of this dance, where it comes from,” Thornton said. “It’s a good opportunity to bring attention back to St. Louis and show that the city contributed a lot to dance culture and the culture of the world.”
